St. Martins is perhaps the last truly untouched of the inhabited Isles of Scilly. Still a close working community where people remain happy to stop and pass the time of day, where doors can still be left unlocked, and where islanders still make a living from the land and the ocean surrounding their island.

It’s an island of contrasts, from the rocky daymark to the sand flats, from sandy beaches and isolated coves to spectacular coastal walks. An island at times battered by spectacular Atlantic gales, and at times bathed in the sub-tropical climate of Scilly. An island where the perfume of flowers and the clean salt air of the ocean are ever present.

St. Martins has so much to offer. Whether simply walking the cliffs and enjoying the beaches, diving or snorkelling with the seals on the nearby Eastern Isles… maybe try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, join in the barn dancing and line dancing, go canoeing, play tennis, take a boat trip to a neighbouring island, join an art class, follow the local gig races or just relax and enjoy the Sunday cricket.

The Stables are situated on a green lane adjoining Churchtown Farm, where the island’s flower growing industry is centred. Formerly a stable block forming part of the farm, they have been beautifully converted to holiday accommodation to provide two high quality units.

The Stables are probably the only property on St. martins with views from the bedroom window to both the north and south of the island – to the fields of Tresco and Bryher and also out across the ocean towards the Sevenstones lighthouse.

Stable 1 provides one bedroom accommodation for a couple – a rarity on the island – and Stable 2 provides two bedroom family accommodation. Both share the garden adjoining the property, which is equipped with barbeque and garden furniture. The properties high standards are recognised by the award of a three star rating from Southwest Tourism.

Both cottages are double glazed and furnished to a high and comfortable standard. Electricity is of course free of charge and all bed linen and towels are provided free of charge save for beach towels – bring your own! Coffee makers, toasters, hair driers, clock radios, colour television, video, CD player and much more are provided.

You will be met at the quay, dropped back there at the end of your stay, and your shopping can be waiting for you on your arrival… all included in the cost of your stay. Most guests come back year after year, and have become a regular part of the island community. Priority is always give to returning visitors who tend to book their same slot each year, but vacancies do arise from time to time, and more and more people are starting to realise the true pleasures of totally out of season visits to St. Martins, when you can enjoy mild and mellow autumn and spring days and have the island virtually to yourself.
